Ford Focus Door Panel Removal 2012
- I did one of these last weekend. The DP gaskets can be removed w/o removing the door panels. The front two panels have a hidden screw on top of the panel near the back. Remove those screws, pry the panel out slightly near the back, pry out the plastic surround slightly near the back of the window, and pull out the gasket.

How to Remove Door Panels of a Ford Focus
Look for a small hole in the door-pull handle cover. Insert a small screw driver into the hole to pry the cover off. Remove the two screws behind the cover.
Pull the door latch handle and remove the screw that is behind it. Pull the entire plastic trim in and around the door latch handle and disconnect the electrical wires behind it.
Pop the plastic cover next to the window/outside mirror off. Remove the clip behind the cover with a flat head screw driver. Disconnect the wires behind the cover.
Start in a corner of the door panel and slowly pull up, popping out seven clips around the edge of the panel. There are two clips along each side of the panel and three along the bottom.
Hold on to the door panel and turnit counter clockwise to remove it from the metal hooks it is resting on.
Disconnect any other wires behind the panel (if the car has power windows or locks) and then the panel will be completely disconnected from the door.

Lower the window in the door in question. Pry the small trim plug out of the inner door handle bezel with the tip of the trim tool to expose a hex-head door panel retaining screw. Pry the trim plug from the center of the leading edge of the door panel with the trim tool to expose a second retaining screw.
Remove the four door-panel retaining screws with the socket wrench and 8-mm socket. There is one screw on the trailing edge of the panel, one in the inner door pull cup and the two exposed in Step 1.

Pry the door panel from the door using the trim tool. Five trim pins that anchor into holes in the inner door skin hold the door panel to the door. Pry each trim pin out separately with the trim tool.
Lift the door panel up and off the door by hand. Unplug the wiring connector from the window and lock switch assembly. Move the panel away from the door to complete the removal process.
Replace the panel by lowering it onto the door, ensuring the upper lip of the panel slides into the window well. Align the eight trim pins with the trim pin anchor holes in the inner door skin and push the pins into the door skin to seat the door panel.
Reinstall the four hex-head door panel retaining screws with the socket and wrench. Push the two trim covers back into place to complete the door panel reinstallation.

How to Remove a Door Panel from a Ford Contour
Remove the C-clip from window regulator handle (on manual window models only) located between the round base of the handle and the panel. Push the pliable panel inward to access the clip and use a small curved hook to pull it off. Wiggle the window regulator handle off its arbor.
Remove the side-view mirror molding. Later models of the Contour employ an exterior retaining screw. Remove the screw and then unsnap the molding from the door frame with the V-shaped angle trim tool.
Locate and remove the two visible retaining screws on the door panel with the Phillips head screwdriver.
Locate the aesthetic cover in the molding of the door cup. Pry the cover off with a small flat-bladed screwdriver. Remove the one to two (depending on the year) retaining screws underneath the cover.
Remove the retaining screw located in the door handle molding. Pry the molding out from the door from the rear of the molding using the trim tool.
Pry the window control module (if equipped with power windows) gently off the arm rest assembly. Pry it from the rear with the trim tool. Disconnect the wire harness connections from the control module. Remove any retaining screws that may be present under the control module.
Use the trim at the bottom of the panel to gently pry off the hidden fasteners underneath the door panel. Once the bottom fasteners are pried off, work your way up each side of the door panel until all the fasteners are disconnected.
Lift the door panel straight up about 2 inches from the door frame to release the retaining hook from the sheet metal shelf of the door frame. Pull the panel away from the door frame just enough to get your hands behind it and then support the panel with one hand.
Use your other hand to disconnect the door handle rod and then disconnect the speaker wire harness (if applicable). Remove the door panel from the door frame and place it in a safe place where it will not get damaged.
